Colac is situated 45
minutes from Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat. If you are traveling
from Melbourne along the Princess Highway it is the last major
town. It contains all the shops needed to stock up with food and
treats. Safeway, Coles and Aldi are the major stores. Others
include Target, Best and Less, The Reject Shop, Rivers Clothing Outlet,
Tattslotto and several smaller shops along the main street. For a
quick bite, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Red Rooster and
Twaites Bakehouse.
To refuel, Shell is situated on the eastern side, BP is in town and Safeway Petrol Plus is located on the way to Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat, on the left in town. Places of interest around Colac include the Otway Estate Winery and Red Rock. The lake is also a popular place for a visit but due to the dry conditions it now contains no water. |
