Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat is located in the Heart of the major attractions along the Great Ocean Road.  The world famous Twelve Apostles are only a stones throw away.  Other attractions include the Cape Otway Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse on mainland Australia built in 1848 and the newly developed Otway Fly Treetop Walk.

Waterfalls and Rainforest Walks scatter the region with Maits Rest and Triplet Falls being high up the itinerary.  Visit Melba Gully during the day to see the Big Tree (300+ years old), or return at night to see the Glowworms.

The Twelve Apostles and the other formations such as Gibson's Steps, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge are only a short 45 minute drive away towards Port Campbell.  Catch the sunset as the sun drops behind the infamous formation or get up early for sunrise to view their true colors. Helicopter rides are available closer to Port Campbell to take you for an unforgettable journey you will remember.

Triplet Falls is one of the most spectacular and accessible waterfalls in the district.  It is a short 15 minute drive towards the small town of Beech Forest and towards the Otway Fly.  Neighboring falls include Hopetoun Falls and Beauchamp Falls.  Visit the nearby Redwood Forest or head down to the Aire Crossing for a picnic lunch.

Located in the Otway National Park, Maits Rest provides a magical walk through the untouched forest.  Be amazed at the giant tree ferns or just take in the relaxing atmosphere.

Melba Gully was once a famous picnic spot and was also the end of the line for the local train line.  Today only remnants remain, but it is still a wonderful spot for a picnic.  Take the walk to the Big Tree or return at night to see the glowworms.  It is only a 5 min drive from Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat
The oldest lighthouse on the Australian mainland, built in 1848.  The Cape Otway Lighthouse is perched above the Southern Ocean on the high cliffs.  A savior to many ships the lighthouse is now decommissioned.  Visitors can still walk up the tower.  An admission fee applies.  For more info Click Pic
The longest and highest tree walk of its kind in the World, the Otway Fly Treetop Walk takes a walk through the forest to different heights.  Marvel at the trees as you walk through the canopy or for the brave climb the 45 metre tower or walk the cantilever.  On the walk back look under the towers to see the wildlife boxes (possibly containing a possum, a bat or a rare Powerful Owl).  They were fully designed, constructed and installed by Dean.  For more information click the Pic.
