Currently the Eastern
Quoll and Spotted-tail Quoll are housed at Fauna Australia Wildlife
Retreat. Closely related to the Tasmanian Devil and Tasmanian
Tiger. These carnivores are slowly disappearing due to Cats, Foxes
and land clearing.
Once found on Mainland Australia the Eastern Quoll is now extinct. Only found now in Tasmania these small relatives of the Tasmanian Devil are now back in the Otways. Working with other throughout Australia we are currently trying to breed this species. The Spotted-tail Quoll or Tiger Quoll, is classed as vulnerable in the Otways. The largest surviving marsupial carnivore on the Mainland, the Tiger Quoll is a rare find. Capable of killing possums and wallabies, this fierce hunter has powerful jaws. Their spotted coat camouflages them surprisingly very well. On sunny days they will come out of their hollows and bask. |
